Seymour Papert (1990s – date uncertain)
I don’t learn by having somebody teach me. Sometimes I might fill in a little gap here and there, but if I wanna learn something, I go out and I try to undertake a project. I try to see what different people have said and get involved in a debate about it. The same thing applies to children. I’d like them to be able to acquire ideas by using them.
By using ’em to make something, to achieve a purpose, to achieve a project. And in doing this, they are not simply, banking in their vaults of their heads, ideas that somebody else has pre-digested for them. They reinvent the ideas as they use them.
