🐢 Searching & Chatting
with the Archive
Two new ways to explore ~200 texts, audio clips, and videos of Seymour Papert’s ideas — one for precise digging, one for open conversation.
🔍 Search the Archives
A classic keyword search over Papert’s actual writings. Best when you want the exact source, not a summary.
💬 Daily Papert Chatbot
An AI that reads the archive for you and answers in one of three “voices.” Best for exploring ideas conversationally.
Start at Search the Archives
Head to dailypapert.com/search and type a word or phrase into the search box. By default, the search returns sources containing every word you type.

A few quirks worth knowing before you dig in:
match in citationThe phrase only appears in that source’s footnotes/bibliography — not the main text"Buy this book"Appears on results from Mindstorms, The Children’s Machine, The Connected Family, or Perceptrons — full text isn’t hosted onlinemathematic*Papert’s own wording shifted across decades — wildcards help you catch “mathematical” and “mathematician” tooSwitch to the Chatbot for open questions
Go to dailypapert.com/chat and pick one of three modes. All three answer from the same underlying archive — they just differ in tone.
Try a few starter questions
Each mode suggests prompts. A sample across all three:
Before you chat: read this
- 🤖It’s a synthesis, not Papert. Every mode — even Conversation Mode’s first-person voice — is an AI composing answers from his documented writings. It is not Papert speaking.
- 🔍Trust, but verify. The site calls this an experiment. Treat answers as a lead to the original source, not a citable fact on their own — especially for anything you’d quote elsewhere.
- ⏱️10 turns per 24 hours. Free use is capped at 10 question/answer exchanges per day (across the site, as of now) to manage cost.
- 🔑Unlimited access is optional. You can paste your own Anthropic API key for unlimited turns. It’s stored only in your browser, never on the site’s server — get a free key at console.anthropic.com if you want this.
- 💛It costs real money to run. The site gently asks for a small contribution to help keep the chatbot online.
